MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois
went through another two-hour workout Friday afternoon (March 30), its fifth of
the spring season, doing so in full pads at Hanson Field. The practice precedes
a scrimmage scheduled for Saturday morning.
The
practice breakdown was much the same as all spring, with individual group work,
pass skeleton 7-on-7 and team 11-on-11. According to head coach Mark
Hendrickson, the Leathernecks turned in another solid workout Friday but are ready
for Saturday.
"Today
you could tell the players had a day off yesterday and are excited for tomorrow
morning's scrimmage. We hope to run about 60 plays. We are thin at offensive
line, so we feel that's a good goal to have," said Henrickson. "Our defense is
all new, the coaches and players are excited to see the new scheme executed
live."
The
Leathernecks are scheduled to hit the field at 10 a.m. then take Sunday off
before returning on Monday.
