Tom Cody, a professor in the Department of Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies (EIS) in the College of Education and Human Services, was appointed NCAA Faculty Representative for Western Illinois Athletics in 2000.
He teaches undergraduate courses in the areas of human growth and development, assessment, and learning for students in the teacher education program. He also serves as the coordinator of the department’s graduate program and serves on many university and college committees.
Cody is in his second year serving on the NCAA Progress Towards Degree Committee. He previously served on the NCAA Recruiting Subcommittee for Division I and was Chair of the Summit League Faculty Athletics Representatives (FAR) Council.
Cody earned both his bachelor’s degree (1986) and master’s degree (1988) from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and later received his doctorate from SIUC in 1995.
Prior to completing his doctoral program, Cody served as the Assistant Director of Housing and Campus Recreation at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was also an assistant football coach.
Cody and his wife, Laura, are the parents of two sons, Ryan and Drew.
