Green's hole-in-one is rewarding

MACOMB, Ill.  -  Macomb community member Vicki Green sunk an ace at the Leatherneck Ladies Open in June to reward both herself and the Western Illinois women's golf program with a $7,500 check.

PUMO Insurance and Cathy Early, tournament director, teamed up to help raise funds for the women's golf
program.  The check was presented to Green and women's golf coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen Friday morning at PUMO Insurance on the square in Macomb.

Early purchased hole-in-one insurance through PUMO Insurance Agency in the amount of $15,000.  The idea behind that number was that 50 percent would go to the team and 50 percent would go to the individual for knocking in the shot.  On hole number three, Green was able to bring all of that planning to fruition.

"If she had gotten the hole-in-one on any other hole then we would not have been able to receive the funds, so it was a great day for women's golf and Vicki Green of course," stated head women's golf coach Lia Biehl
Lukkarinen. "Also, I would like to give a special thanks to Cathy Early, all the tournament sponsers, those who played in the event and our volunteer witness, Scott Parke."

The money raised will be put towards a locker room facility. The event had 44 players and raised $2,500, without the bonus hole-in-one.
