MACOMB, Ill.  -  Seventy-eight incoming student athletes attended and took part in various competitions for the 5th consecutive Student-Athlete Activity Day on Sunday. The activities included a bubble gum bubble contest, limbo, baggo, water balloon toss, marshmallow driving contest, starburst game, house of cards, "What a Raquet" and the finale was a spoon egg relay race. The winning team included Dan Owenby from baseball, Matthew Funches from track and field, Haley Brasile from swimming, Heather Smith from volleyball, Quinn Walker from track and field and Ty Spittler from men's soccer.

After the competitions, Dr. Tom Cody, Faculty Athletics Representitive spoke to the new athletes about the importance of academics and the student-professor relationship.

“The new student athlete activity day is a great way to kick off the beginning of the semester so that all new student athletes get a chance to meet in an informal setting, get the opportunity for some friendly competition and hear about the importance of academics and the student-professor relationship”, Director of Athletic Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator Lisa Melz said.
