ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced its selections for the sites of the 2010-11 league championships on Tuesday, Aug. 31 and Western Illinois was selected to host the 2011 Summit League Softball Championship.

The league tournament, which will feature the top four teams in the final Summit League standings, will run from May 12-14, 2011 at Mary Ellen McKee Softball Stadium in Macomb.

The tournament will mark the eighth time in Western's history that the Fighting Leathernecks have hosted the Summit League (formerly Mid-Continent Conference) championship and the second time in the past three seasons.

The Leathernecks were named as the hosts after winning the 2010 Summit League regular-season title by finishing the year 35-19 overall and 19-2 in league play.
