MACOMB, Ill. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced their 2011 NCAA men's division I All-Midwest Team Friday (Dec. 9) and two Leathernecks earned recognition.
Sophomore defenseman Charlie Bales was named to the All-Midwest Second Team, and senior midfielder Alexis Dominguez was named to the third team.
Bales appeared in and started 19 matches for Western in 2011, while recording six points, made up of two goals and two assists on the year. He was tabbed First Team All-League, named 2011 Summit League 'Defensive Player of the Year', and the Most Valuable Player of the Summit League tournament.
Dominguez appeared in every game for the Leathernecks and started all but one. He finished the year with three goals and a team-best five assists, giving him 11 points on the season. Dominguez was named All-League, as well as to the All-Tournament Team.
