Western Illinois men's track & field student-athlete senior Jeffrey Liles (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his performance on the track and in the classroom. Liles carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in Biology.

At the season-opening Redbird Open hosted by Illinois State (Dec. 3), Liles helped the men's 4x400 meter relay squad place second with a time of 3:28.53. With a track-adjusted time of 3:26.93, the team of Liles, Matt Leal, Jordan Liles and Michael Hemming owns the fourth best effort in The Summit League so far this indoor season.

Liles also finished third in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 52.28. When adjusted for track size, his mark of 51.68 is the second fastest 400-meter dash performance in The Summit League.

Liles has been named to The Summit League's Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team the past two seasons and was selected as a Distinguished Scholar following the 2010-11 campaign. This past June, he was named to The Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence. Liles also earned 2010 Summit League District Scholar Honors for a GPA of 3.60 or higher.
