Western Illinois track and field student-athlete freshman Megan McGlone (Streamwood,
Ill./Streamwood) has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for
her accomplishments on the track and in the classroom.
At Wisconsin's Elite Invitational (Jan. 21), McGlone placed fourth in the
women's triple jump with The Summit League's fifth best effort (36-09.00). Her
season-best performance also passed Kelicia Jones (2003) into ninth all-time in
program history. The Fighting Leathernecks collected 14 top-three finishes
overall Saturday inside "The Shell".
At Iowa's New Year's Classic (Jan. 14), McGlone placed fifth in
the women's long jump. Her leap of
16-01.75 is the best Western Illinois performance this indoor season.
McGlone entered the Western Illinois record book in her
first appearance as a Leatherneck at Illinois State's season-opening Early
Bird Open (Dec. 3). She placed fourth in the women's triple jump
with a mark of 36-05.50, which was the tenth best effort in program history
at the time.
In the classroom, McGlone boasts a 3.646 cumulative grade point average. She is majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology.
