ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois diver Doug Ogilvie was named The Summit League Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for his performances last week (Jan. 17-23). This marks the second League honor of the year for the freshman, the first awarded for the week of Dec. 13-19.
In dual competition against Green Bay last Thursday (Jan. 19), Ogilvie earned second place performances in one-meter diving with a score of 301.43 and in three-meter diving recording a 286.83. Both scores were new season personal records, and his one-meter score qualified him for NCAA Zones.
The following day (Friday, Jan. 20) at the IUPUI Quad, he earned individual titles for his efforts in one-meter and three-meter competition. His one-meter score of 319.50 is a Summit League season best and resets his season personal record for the second time in a two-day period. It also gives him a No. 2 ranking in the Western Illinois Record Book.
His three-meter score of 299.70 reset his season personal best and marks the top Summit League score of the year. It also earned him a No. 4 ranking in the Western Illinois Record Book.
The Leathernecks are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 28) against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The dual meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
