MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois track and field student-athlete sophomore Nathaniel Marshall (Bushnell, Ill./ Bushnell-Prairie City) has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Marshall started the weekend at the Iowa State Classic Friday. He finished seventh in the men's non-seeded weight throw with a toss of 58-02.00.

The next day at Monmouth College's Fighting Scots Invitational, Marshall won the men's weight throw with a personal-best mark of 59-03.50. His effort ranks sixth in program history, second in The Summit League and 101st nationally.

In the men's shot put competition at Monmouth, Marshall set another personal best (52-00.00) and placed fourth overall. He is currently tied with teammate Paul Hames for sixth in The Summit League's shot put rankings.

In the classroom, Marshall boasts a 3.472 cumulative grade point average. He is majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology.
