MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois track and field student-athlete senior Lizzy Jones (Channahon, Ill./Minooka Community) has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. 

Jones set personal bests in both the discus and hammer throw Saturday (April 21) at the SIUE Gateway Classic. She won the discus throw competition with a toss of 154-05, which ranks fourth in both program history and The Summit League. Jones' placed second in the hammer throw with an effort of 171-10, which ranks fifth in The Summit League and seventh in program history.

Jones is a three-time Summit League Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team selection (2009, 2010 & 2011) and has been named to The Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence twice (2010 & 2011). In the classroom, Jones boasts a 3.72 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Physical Education K-12.
