Western
took advantage of big plays on both sides of the ball during the final
minute to secure a 27-21 Homecoming win over Southern Illinois, ending a
nine-game losing streak to the Salukis.
With the game tied at 21 and facing 2nd-and-2, Terriun Crump caught a tipped pass in stride and raced untouched down the left sidelines for a 77-yard touchdown with just 26 seconds remaining. Southern blocked the extra point, then used a big pass play to get into Western territory. On the game's final play, Raynard Pamilton came up with his first career interception when he caught a deflected pass in the endzone to secure the victory.
