PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Western Illinois women's soccer (1-1-0) earned its first victory and evened its record in shutout fashion on Friday (August 24) over Arkansas Pine Bluff (0-3-0) 8-0.

The Fighting Leathernecks netted eight goals in the contest, a feat the program has not accomplished since October 10, 2000 against Youngstown State. The squad outshot the Lions a dominating 40 to two.

Western got on the board early scoring two goals in the 15th minute of the match. Miranda Graham netted the first and set Chrissy Campbell up for a goal just 19 seconds later.

Katie Condon found the back of the net 15 minutes after for her first goal of the contest, and scored for a second time in the 35th minute. Gina Scaffidi, Sarah Wright, Skyer Jessop and Tiara Herron also tallied one goal apiece. The goals scored by Wright and Jessop were the first of their collegiate careers.

Keeper Victoria Kappel picked up the win at the keeper position recording one save.

"I thought our performance was comprehensive, and scoring early allowed us to settle into the match," first-year head coach Ted Flogaites said. "We are pleased with the result and always happy to keep a clean sheet. It was a good step forward. We will look to build on the win by seeking to turn in another quality performance on Sunday."

Western is back in action at Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday (August 26). The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and livestats are available HERE.
