ELMHURST, Ill. - Freshman men's soccer student-athlete
Austin Gochneaur was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for
his efforts during the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3.
In just his second collegiate start, Gochneaur netted a pair
of goals in a 2-1 victory over DePaul. His first goal came just 65 seconds into
the match, before scoring the game-winner in the 69th minute to put
the Leathernecks ahead for good.
Gochneaur totaled four shots during the week, all of them on
target, as Western Illinois went 2-0 during over that span.
His two goals and four points are also best on the squad.
Gochneaur and the Fighting Leathernecks will return to
action on Saturday when they travel to 20th-ranked Marquette for a
7:05 p.m. game.
