MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's soccer (4-1-0) heads to Iowa to defend its four match win streak against Grand View (2-2-0) on Friday (September 7) and St. Ambrose (1-2-0) on Sunday (September 9).
In competition last week, three Leathernecks buried goals. In Western's 1-0 win over Mississippi Valley State, Sarah Hall picked up the game winner for her third goal of the season. Amber Davis netted her first goal of the year, also a game winner, against Jackson State off of a Kellie Julius corner, and Skyler Jessop added her second of the season to solidify the 2-0 Leatherneck victory.
Keeper Laura Atkinson started both contests posting a total of 170 minutes in net. She had three saves against Mississippi Valley State and two against Jackson State. For her efforts, the junior was named The Summit League's 'Defensive Player of the Week.'

PRESEASON POLL: The Leathernecks were picked to finish tied for sixth along with IUPUI in the 2012 Summit League Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Western Illinois tallied 22 points in the all Summit League coach vote. Oakland, last year's Summit League Tournament Champion, was picked to finish first with 61 points and regular season champions South Dakota State took second with 59 points.
