MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's soccer (6-1-0) looks to extend its six game win streak in competition at Missouri State (3-5-1) on on Friday (September 14) and North Dakota (3-3-1) on Sunday (September 16) this weekend.
In action last week, the Leathernecks earned two wins and outscored their opponents nine to one. On Friday (September 7), downed Grand View by a 2-1 margin. Kayse Flostrand and Amy Bennett netted their first goals of the 2012 season in the contest. Keeper Victoria Kappel picked up the win in net tallying three saves.
In Sunday's (September 9) match, Western won in dominant fashion over St. Ambrose 7-0. Kellie Julius put the squad on top in the ninth minute and the Leathernecks never looked back. Katie Condon, Sloane Levin, Chrissy Campbell, Sarah Wright and Jordan Walgren also netted goals in the first half and Gina Scaffidi scored the lone goal of the second. Keeper Kappel earned her fifth victory in net of the season and had three saves in the shutout.
A LOOK AT THE BEARS: Missouri State, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, brings a 3-5-1 record into match play...Michelle Sommer leads the squad in goals with four on the year and is followed by Shelby Stewart with three...Molly Brewer paces the team in assists with four...Bear keeper Chelsea Voet has started each game and played every minute in net.
SERIES HISTORY: Western leads the series 1-0 over Missouri State...The squads last met on October 7, 2007...Ashley Hoch netted the lone goal of the match for the 1-0 win.
A LOOK AT UND: North Dakota, a member of the Big Sky Conference, brings an overall mark of 3-3-1 into Sunday's match...A trio of student-athletes have two goals on the season including Megan Anderson, Rhaya Ballon and Taryn MacMillan...Anderson leads the team in points with seven (two goals, three assists)...Keeper Kristi Hestdalen has a 2-2-1 record on the season in her 470 minutes, while Alex Ciaccio is 0-1 with 90 minutes logged in net.

PRESEASON POLL: The Leathernecks were picked to finish tied for sixth along with IUPUI in the 2012 Summit League Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Western Illinois tallied 22 points in the all Summit League coach vote. Oakland, last year's Summit League Tournament Champion, was picked to finish first with 61 points and regular season champions South Dakota State took second with 59 points.
