MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois cross country student-athlete Zach Wiedeman has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of
the Week for his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
Wiedeman competed in the SIU-Edwardsville Cross Country Challenge and finished first individually with a time of 25:26.02 in the men's 8K Friday (Sept. 14).
His first place finish was the third in a row for the Leathernecks at the Challenge. Michael Castel took that honor in 2011 running a time of 25:58.74, while Mike McGraw won the event in 2010 with a time of 26:13.
Wiedeman owns a 3.213 grade point average while majoring in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.
