Leathernecks compete at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Fighting Leatherneck cross country teams traveled to South Bend, Indiana and competed in the 57th Annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Sept. 28). The men's and women's teams each ran in the Gold Division.

The Leatherneck men finished 13th overall out of 18 teams with 337 points

"For the men, I think we just need to be able to get the roster together and have it be as stable as we think it can be," said third-year head coach David Beauchem.

The Western women finished 14th overall with 332 points in a field that consisted of 15 teams. 

"Overall, we need some more training on the women's side of things. I thought Alycia, Lydia and Mackenzie raced well for us today," said Beauchem.

"Today was a step forward for us individually, but we still need to put in some more work team wise to get to where we want to be come Summit League Championship time," Beauchem said.

Western returns to action again at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill. on Friday, October 12. That will mark the last meet for the Leathernecks before the Summit League Cross Country Championships in Rochester, Michigan which is hosted by Oakland.
