MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois volleyball program finished up its third and final Lil' Leathernecks clinic last weekend (Oct. 21), and is preparing for its Grand Finale event in two weeks (Nov. 9) when the Fighting Leathernecks play host to Fort Wayne inside Brophy Hall.
"A heartfelt thanks goes out to the student-athletes, administration,
and community for making our first-ever Lil' Leathernecks Volleyball
Clinic a success," said head coach April Hall.
Coach Hall, her staff, and all of the Leatherneck volleyball players helped educate the campers during the clinics on all volleyball related skills, including: passing, setting, attacking and serving.
"I'm ecstatic with the turn out we had for our first-ever Lil' Leathernecks Volleyball Clinic and anticipate it growing in the future," stated coach Hall. "We had an amazing group of campers who worked hard and had a lot of fun learning from our student-athletes. Since taking over this program, I've wanted to reach out to the community and give the youth an opportunity to do something different. With this clinic, we're not only providing young athletes the chance to learn about volleyball in a fun environment, but also a chance to build relationships and get involved with our current student-athletes and volleyball program as a whole. I can't wait to offer this clinic again next Fall and look forward to seeing our campers showcase their skills at our Grand Finale event."
There were a total of three clinics for the 34 campers (32 girls and 2 boys) that attended the first of what is planned to be an annual clinic, and they still get to show off their volleyball skills at the Grand Finale event on November 9th. The Leathernecks play host to Fort Wayne during their final home weekend of the season, and the campers will play in between sets two and three of the match.
"I encourage you to tune in to Leatherneck Volleyball for the rest of the season and to watch for information starting in February on our new and improved summer camps," continued Hall.
