MACOMB, Ill. - Fighting Leatherneck women's basketball travels to Chicago, Ill. for its second meeting against Chicago State this season on Tuesday (Jan. 29). Western brings an overall mark of 10-10 into the game, while the Cougars are 3-18. The 7 p.m. game will be featured on ESPN3.

When the teams met earlier this season, Western served up an 87-52 loss to Chicago State in Western Hall. It is the team's second highest scoring mark of the season.

Last time out on Saturday (Jan. 26), the Leathernecks dropped a 51-50 contest to Summit League member Kansas City. Charnelle Reed paced the offense netting 13 points in her first collegiate start, while Ashley Luke and Paige Harmon added 11 and 10 points, respectively, to reach double figures.

Securing her second double-double on the season pulling down a team-most 13 rebounds was Luke. The first occurred on Dec. 21, 2012 against Bradley. She also led the team in blocks with two and steals with three, while Reed and Saule Kontautaite dished out a team-high four assists apiece.

LAST TIME OUT: Western fell in Summit League play 51-50 to Kansas City on Saturday (Jan. 26) in Western Hall... Three reached double figures including Charnelle Reed (13 points), Ashley Luke (11 points) and Paige Harmon (10 points)... Luke pulled down a team-most 13 rebounds, giving her her second double-double of the season, two blocked shots and three steals... Reed and Saule Kontautaite dished out a team-high four assists apiece... Western shot 31.1 percent (19-for-61) overall from the floor, 20.8 percent (5-for-24) from long range and 46.7 percent (7-for-15) from the charity stripe in the game.

A LOOK AT THE COUGARS: Chicago State, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, has an overall mark of 3-18 on the year and a 2-1 record in conference play... The Cougars are led in scoring by Tierra Williams with 179 points (8.5 ppg) and Paris Williams with 176 points (8.4 ppg)... Layne Murphy leads the team in rebounds with 121 (5.8 rpg) and blocks with 26 (1.2 bpg)... Pacing the squad in assists with 82 (3.9 apg) and steals with 47 (2.2 spg) is Jackie Jones... Chicago State is led by 10th-year head coach Angela Jackson... The roster consists of four freshmen, five sophomores and two seniors.

DOUBLING UP: Freshman forward Ashley Luke earned her second double-double of the season on Saturday (Jan. 26) against Kansas City after netting 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds... The first occurred on Dec. 21 in Western's 92-81 win over Bradley in Western Hall... She has now reached double figures in points in nine of the last 11 games and on five consecutive occasions... Her 13 rebounds is a new career-high mark.

HOT START: In her first collegiate start against Kansas City, freshman Charnelle Reed scored the first seven points of the game and the first for Western Illinois with a layup, jumper and a three-pointer... Her 13 total points paced the Leatherneck offense and is her fourth time as the top scorer this season.

CLIMBING THE RANKS: After knocking down five from downtown against Kansas City, Western owns the No. 2 spot on the Western Illinois 'Top 10' list for three-point shots made in a season with 158... The record stands at 215 and was set by the 2011-12 squad.

BENCHMARK: In Western's last game against Kansas City, freshman Paige Harmon came off the bench in a big way... In her 14 minutes played, she went 4-for-6 overall from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to accomplish her first game in double figures with 10 points... Her previous career-high point total was three, and she nearly doubled her points total on the season with the performance.

NATIONALLY SPEAKING: According to the most recent release on Jan. 27, 2013, Western is nationally ranked in several categories... The team is 13th in threes per game (7.9), 35th in personal fouls per game (14.0), 40th in assists per game (15.7), 49th in three-point field goal percentage (33.8), 58th in assist to turnover ratio (0.92) and 94th in field goal percentage (40.7)... Saule Kontautaite ranks 83rd in threes per game (2.2) and 98th in three-point field goal percentage (33.6)... Rebecca Henricson is 29th in assist to turnover ratio (2.14)... Michelle Maher is 98th in threes per game (2.11).

KONTAUTAITE PRESEASON ALL-LEAGUE, WESTERN PICKED SEVENTH: Western Illinois senior guard Saule Kontautaite earned a spot on the preseason All-Summit League selections, while the Leathernecks were picked to finish seventh in the poll, announced by the league office. Head coaches, sports information directors and select media members voted in the poll... Last year, Kontautaite was voted as the league's 'Newcomer of the Year', and this year earned a spot on the preseason Second Team. She averaged 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, while setting a program record hitting 67 three-point field goals. The senior guard started in 12 of her 31 games played... South Dakota State received 22 of the 25 first-place votes and was picked to repeat receiving 330 points. Kansas City, the tournament runner-up last year, received a first-place vote and tallied 260 points. Oakland (234) and North Dakota State (221) went third and fourth, respectively. IUPUI earned a first-place vote with 213 total points for fifth... South Dakota registered 151 points, just ahead of Western's 138 points. Fort Wayne got the other first-place vote and recorded 96 points, while Omaha's 43 points rounded out the preseason poll.
