MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois sophomore pitcher Mason Pingel was named
Summit League Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the 7-5 win over
Arkansas on Sunday (Feb. 17). Pingel shares the honor with North Dakota State
pitcher John Straka.
The Appleton, Wisconsin native was the starter for the
Leathernecks in Sunday's victory over #1 Arkansas. He threw five innings,
allowing three runs while striking out five on his way to the victory.
The win
was the first for Pingel in a Leatherneck uniform, and also the first time the Leatherneck baseball program defeated the top-ranked team in the country.

Pingel and the Leathernecks will be back in action this
weekend (Feb 23-24) as they square off against the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
The three-game set will feature a doubleheader on Saturday with a single game
concluding the series on Sunday.
