MONMOUTH, Ill. - Seven Leathernecks won events as the Western Illinois track & field team competed at Monmouth's unscored Fighting Scot Invitational on Saturday (May 4).

The Leathernecks will now prepare for next weekend's Summit League Championships, taking place Thursday through Saturday at Fort Wayne.

Tynan Murray set a new career best in the high jump, clearing 6-10.75 to win the event. The mark ranks seventh in program history and second in the Summit League this season, behind only teammate Jamario Taylor.

Dana LaRue added a season best in the shot put with a throw of 49-11.75, which leads the conference. She also set a new career high in the hammer throw, tossing 184-10, currently good for second in the Summit League and third in program history.

In the triple jump, Davin Dollison leaped 47-06.50 to win the event with a mark that ranks third in the conference.

Nathaniel Marshall had a trio of top-three finishes, including a win in the hammer throw with a toss of 193-04. He finished second in the shot put (49-01.75) and third in the discus (152-03), right behind teammate Breyonte Brewer (153-07).

Breanna Moore took first in a tight race at 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:05.44, less than half a second ahead of the next two competitors.

In the men's pole vault, Jeff Veal tied his career best by clearing 15-01.00, a mark that's tied for seventh in program history.

Megan McGlone rounded out the Western victories in the long jump with a leap of 35-05.75.

The Leathernecks also received second-place finishes from Tyler Younkin (100m dash - 11.04), Matt Leal (400m hurdles - 55.87), and third-place finishes from Kiah Clements (100m dash - 12.88) and Haley Calvert (long jump - 16-11.50 and triple jump - 34-07.50).

Western Illinois will now prepare for the Summit League Championships, where both the men and women's squads will look to improve on their sixth-place finishes a year ago.
