MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois swimming and diving head coach Greg Naumann announced the dates of the Purple and Gold Intersquad and Alumni Meet on Thursday (May 31). Both events will coincide with Homecoming Weekend this fall, as the intersquad is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 21 and the Alumni Meet will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22.
"The Alumni Meet is a fun time for alumni to come back and see how the program is progressing," Naumann said. "It is an opportunity to see the new incoming class, gives them the ability to come back and have some fun, keeps them in touch with the program and keeps us in touch with what they're doing."
The Alumni Meet
features competition between alumni and current swimming and diving team
members. It is a way for past Leatherneck swimming and diving members to
stay connected to Western Illinois Athletics, the program's overall
direction, and serves as a networking tool.
In 2011, approximately 20 alumnus attended the weekend's festivities and Naumann hopes to bring in an even larger group in 2012. Anyone interested in participating or looking for more information on the Alumni Meet should contact Naumann via email at gj-naumann@wiu.edu.
