MACOMB, Ill. - TopDrawerSoccer.com projected the Western Illinois men's soccer team as the Summit League Champions in its first weekly Tournament 48 rankings on Monday.
The rankings attempt to predict the 48 teams that will gain entry into the NCAA College Cup in 2012, and include the Fighting Leathernecks as the lone Summit League representative.
Western Illinois is coming off its fifth Summit League crown in the past eight years in the 2011 season, in which the squad finished with a 13-7-1 record overall.
After finishing the exhibition portion of their schedule 1-0-1, the Leathernecks will open the regular season with a 5 p.m. contest against Graceland on Friday at 5 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
