MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's soccer (6-1-0) looks to extend its six game win streak in competition at Missouri State (3-5-1) on on Friday (September 14) and North Dakota (3-3-1) on Sunday (September 16) this weekend.
In action last week, the Leathernecks earned two wins and outscored their opponents nine to one. On Friday (September 7), downed Grand View by a 2-1 margin. Kayse Flostrand and Amy Bennett netted their first goals of the 2012 season in the contest. Keeper Victoria Kappel picked up the win in net tallying three saves.
In Sunday's (September 9) match, Western won in dominant fashion over St. Ambrose 7-0. Kellie Julius put the squad on top in the ninth minute and the Leathernecks never looked back. Katie Condon, Sloane Levin, Chrissy Campbell, Sarah Wright and Jordan Walgren also netted goals in the first half and Gina Scaffidi scored the lone goal of the second. Keeper Kappel earned her fifth victory in net of the season and had three saves in the shutout.

PRESEASON POLL: The Leathernecks were picked to finish tied for sixth along with IUPUI in the 2012 Summit League Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Western Illinois tallied 22 points in the all Summit League coach vote. Oakland, last year's Summit League Tournament Champion, was picked to finish first with 61 points and regular season champions South Dakota State took second with 59 points.
