ELMHURST, Ill. - Sophomore keeper Yves Dietrich was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, spanning from Sept. 10-16.
Dietrich led a strong defense at the Chicago South Loop Hotel UIC Soccer Classic over the weekend as the Leathernecks tied Big Ten opponent 0-0, before falling 1-0 to UIC.
In those two games, Dietrich saved eight of the nine shots he faced, including a diving effort in overtime against Wisconsin to extend the game.
His play during the weekend earned him a berth on the all-tournament team as the lone goalkeeper out of the 11 honorees.
He has been reliable in net all year, as he is currently second in the conference with a .794 save percentage and .097 goals against average.
Dietrich and the Leathernecks will open Summit League play this weekend as they host Omaha at John MacKenzie Alumni Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
