MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois volleyball student-athlete Ann Miller has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of
the Week for her accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
The sophomore outside hitter helped the Fighting Leathernecks accomplished something for the first time in program history this past week, defeating North Dakota State away from Macomb. The Leathernecks downed the Bison 3-2 Friday (Sept. 21). Western also beat Oakland in five sets on the road for the first time in five years and concluded its week with a loss to South Dakota State.
Miller finished the week with a team-high 48 kills, averaging 4.43 per set, while hitting at a .224 clip. She also tallied seven digs and four blocks on the week. Miller tallied 17 kills at Oakland, put down 15 kills against North Dakota State, and killed 16 at South Dakota State.
The Bettendorf, Iowa native has118 kills (3.28 per set) on the year and owns a 3.964 grade point average while majoring in University Advising.
