KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fighting Leatherneck volleyball dropped is Summit League road match Friday night (Oct. 12) at Kansas City, 3-0. Western fell to 8-12 on the season and 2-7 in Summit League matches, while the Kangaroos of UMKC improve to 13-8 overall and 6-3 in league matches.
The Kangaroos downed the Leathernecks 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21 in the three sets.
Samantha Fournier led Western in kills on the evening, putting down 13 in the match. Ann Miller (9), Katie Hosteng (7) and Heather Smith (6) also recorded five-plus kills in the match.
Sarah Fetter tallied a team-high 33 assists in the match, while three Leathernecks recorded 10-plus digs in the loss. Bridget Murphy recorded 17 digs, Ann Miller had 12 digs, and Sarah Fetter tallied 10 digs.
UMKC was led by Emily Lucas and Jessica Hendin in kills, tallying 13 and 11, respectively.
The Leathernecks continue their road swing Sunday (Oct. 14) at South Dakota.
