ELMHURST, Ill. - Fighting Leatherneck swimmer Matt Abercrombie was named the Summit League Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for his performance at the season opener against Saint Louis in Macomb on Saturday (October 6).
In his debut meet as a Leatherneck, the Good Hope, Ill. native earned event victories in the 500 free (4:54.72) and the 200 IM (2:02.03). He also placed runner-up in the 1000 free posting a time of 10:04.18.
Western Illinois is back in the water on Saturday (October 27) at Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
