MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois senior men's soccer player Nathan Bruinsma (New Era, Mich.), has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his accomplishments on the pitch and in the classroom.
Bruinsma scored a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over conference foe Oral Roberts in a key conference match on Saturday.
The accomplishment marked the senior's first career multi-goal game. He also leads the team in goals (four) and points (10), while being tied for second on the squad in assists (two).
Bruinsma owns a 3.075 grade point average majoring in Physical Education.
