UPDATE: 2013 Men's Basketball Recruiting Class

LEATHERNECKS SIGN THREE: Head coach Jim Molinari and the men’s basketball program signed three players during the early signing period this fall in: Jabari Sandifer (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), Garret Covington (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens).

Below is an update on how each is doing so far this seaosn.


 

Garret Covington (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville)

Covington and the Tigers of Edwardsville High School are 5-0 on the season, and after winning the Waterloo (Ill.) Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament with victories over hosts Waterloo (54-38), Gateway Tech (98-67), Highland, Ill. (66-40), and Mater Dei (60-44), most recently downed Collinsville, 66-43. Covington is averaging 18.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game this season, while shooting 59.6% from the field and 58.6% from three.

Jabari Sandifer (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley)

Sandifer and the Wildcats of Neauqua Valley are 6-0 this season after winning two this past week, first versus Metea Valley High School, 38-36, followed by a 59-46 victory over Neuqua Valley High School. Through the six games this season Sandifer is averaging 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens)

Stensgaard and Sharidan College, where he is a redshirt freshman, are 9-1 overall this season. In the Generals most recent game, a victory over Colorado Northwestern, Stensgaard finished with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds. He is averageing 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game through 10 games this season.
