Bales, Bruinsma Named All-Midwest Region

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's soccer junior Charlie Bales and senior Nathan Bruinsma were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Midwest Region team.

Bales, a defender, earned Second Team honors, while Bruinsma, a forward, was named to the Third Team.

After tallying a goal and four assists for a total of six points, Bales is a part of the Second Team for the second straight year.

Bruinsma makes his first appearance on the squad, as he led the Leathernecks in goals (eight) and points (18).

Both Bales and Bruinsma were also named First Team All-Summit League for their 2012 accomplishments.

Western Illinois won its sixth conference crown in the past nine years, including second consecutive, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
