LEATHERNECKS SIGN THREE: Head coach Jim Molinari and the men’s basketball program signed three players during the early signing period this fall in: Jabari Sandifer (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), Garret Covington (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens).
Below is an update on how each is doing so far this season.
Garret Covington (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville)
Covington and the Tigers of Edwardsville High School are 12-1 on the season, and most recently went 4-0 to win the Carbondale Holiday Tournament where Covington was tabbed MVP after knocking down 23 triples and scoring 92 points in the four games. Covington is averaging a team-high 19.3 points per game this season to go along with his 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He is shooting 65.3% from the field and 69.1% from three.

Jabari Sandifer (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley)
Sandifer and the Wildcats of Neauqua Valley are 14-0 this season after earning the East Aurora Holiday Tournament crown last week. Sandifer dished out a team-high eight assists in the championship game and was named to the All-Tournament Second Team. So far this season Sandifer is averaging 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens)
Stensgaard and Sheridan College, where he is a redshirt freshman, are 14-2 overall this season, and have won five straight. In the Generals most recent game, a victory over Gillette College, Stensgaard finished with nine points and six rebounds in 26 minutes. He is averaging 12.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game through 16 games this season.
