MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's basketball and the Leatherneck Club has announced that Saturday, February 2nd, will be Women's Basketball Alumni Day. All alumni wishing to attend must pre-register by January 28th. There is no cost involved in attending the event and no limit on the number of attendees.
"We are really excited to host this event, and are hopeful that Western Illinois women's basketball alumni from several decades will attend," head coach JD Gravina said. "It is very important for us to connect with players from the past that worked hard to build our program and women's basketball in general. This program has a rich history, and I hope our current team is able to learn from the successes and challenges of the past."
The day begins with a Chalk Talk session with Gravina and his staff at 10:30 a.m., which includes a brunch of pastries, bagels, donuts, coffee and more. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. alumni can view the current team's shoot around.
Following a break in activities, alumni are welcome to join members of the Leatherneck Club in the Leatherneck Suite beginning at 3:30 p.m. until tip off between Western Illinois and IUPUI in Western Hall at 4:30 p.m.
A dinner at Sports Corner will occur at 6:30 p.m. or upon the game's completion. Alumni will receive free appetizers and 15 percent off of their meals.
