MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's basketball team has been receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll during the last few weeks, but Monday (Jan. 7) the Fighting Leathernecks jumped into the top 25 at #22.
Western, who received 92 points in the poll, is off to its best start in the program's NCAA Division I history with a 12-3 overall record. It also marks the program's best record since the 1957-58 season.
The Leathernecks are also the only team in the country with a 5-0 conference record.
Two other Summit League teams rank in the poll, with North Dakota State at #11, and South Dakota State at #19.
