MACOMB, Ill. - Sophomore Mitch Granger was ranked as the the No. 17 men's tennis singles player in the Central in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll.
Granger has a strong fall season in which he posted an 8-2 record. He won the No. 5 singles flight at WIU's Art Peterson Invitational.
He followed up that performance with a second-place effort at the Valparaiso Invitational in the B singles draw.
At the ITA Regional, Granger defeated student-athletes from Minnesota and Southern Illinois before falling in the third round of qualifying.
Granger will open the season at No. 5 singles, and will likely face off against a ranked player from Notre Dame in the season opener on Saturday, as the Irish have four singles players ranked nationally and five who are ranked in the Midwest.
