ELMHURST, Ill. - Junior Nathaniel Marshall was honored as the Summit League men's track & field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Marshall increased his career best in the weight throw for the fourth straight week, a mark that also ranks second in program history and 24th best in the nation this season.
Over Western's four meets, Marshall has improved in the weight throw at a consistent rate, from 61-05.75 to 62-01.00 to 62-05.75 to 63-10.25 this past weekend at the Jack Jennett Invitational at Northern Iowa.
Marshall has also won the weight throw event in three of the team's four meets, including his first-place finish over the field of 28 on Saturday.
The award marks Western's first of the season and 15th in the men's program's history of the weekly award, which began in 1997-98.
This weekend, Marshall and the Leathernecks will be split between the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame and the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite at Nebraska.
