MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois Athletics will hold its annual 'Think Pink' event on Saturday, February 16th, as the women's basketball team will play host to South Dakota State. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. inside Western Hall.
The Leathernecks hold this annual event to help in the fight against breast cancer. Survivors of breast cancer and their families can receive free entrance to the game by stopping by the Athletics Department office prior to Saturday's contest, and all survivors will receive a Think Pink t-shirt.
This year's game will be followed by a Hawaiian Luau, held in East Arena (inside Western Hall). A Think Pink package consisting of: game ticket, admission to the luau, t-shirt and food/drink is available for just $25 per person.
Think Pink t-shirts can be purchased for $10 in the athletics department office inside Western Hall, and will also be sold during the women's basketball home game on February 14th. T-shirts can also be purchased at downtown Macomb businesses Sports Corner @ 124 and Envy.
Tickets to the luau are $10 for adults and $5 for children. A silent auction will be held, and prizes will be handed out at the luau entrance (neon necklaces, Think Pink tattoos, leis).
Proceeds from the event will go to McDonough District Hospital's Linda's Fund. Sponsors of this year's Think Pink event include: McDonough District Hospital, Sports Corner @ 124, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy John's, Domino's and Envy.
"The
Think Pink Hawaiian Luau will be a fun way to get the community together to
support Linda's Fund. Western Illinois Athletics is fortunate to have
supportive corporate partners such as: Sports Corner, Buffalo Wild Wings,
Domino's, McDonough District Hospital, and Envy," said Director of Marketing
Kelsey Homewood. "The Think Pink Committee comprised of 10 females from across
the campus and community have dedicated a lot of time to make this event a
success. We are excited to have the female student-athletes interact with
attendees, and it's a great opportunity for our coaches to continue to develop
strong relationships for Western Illinois Athletics. We want everyone to please
come help the Fighting Leathernecks Fight Breast Cancer on February
16th."
