IOWA CITY, Iowa - Nathaniel Marshall set a new career-best in the weight throw to lead Western Illinois track & field at the Iowa Invitational on Friday evening.

The meet was the team's final tune-up before the Summit League Championships, hosted by South Dakota next weekend.

Marshall tossed 65-07.50 (20.00m) to win the weight throw, a mark that's second-best in program history and currently ranks 21st in the nation.

Michael Castel finished the mile run in 4:14.96 to finish third, with a time that ranks ninth all-time at Western.

The Leathernecks also swept the top two in the women's 200-meter dash, with Myelle Vann winning in 26.13 and Kirsten Bryant right behind at the 26.27 mark.

Dana LaRue won the shot put with a throw of 49-11.00, and finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 61-04.25.

Haley Calvert finished second in the triple jump by leaping 34-06.75, while Justin Kilpatrick was the runner-up in the 60-meter dash by finishing in 6.97.

The Leathernecks will now begin preparations for next weekend's Summit League Championships, taking place next Sunday and Monday (Feb. 24-25).
