MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois sophomore pitcher Mason Pingel was named Summit League Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the 7-5 win over Arkansas on Sunday (Feb. 17). Pingel shares the honor with North Dakota State pitcher John Straka.
The Appleton, Wisconsin native was the starter for the Leathernecks in Sunday's victory over #1 Arkansas. He threw five innings, allowing three runs while striking out five on his way to the victory.
The win was the first for Pingel in a Leatherneck uniform, and also the first time the Leatherneck baseball program defeated the top-ranked team in the country.
