ROCHESTER, Mich. - Following the second day of competition at the 2013 Swimming and Diving Summit League Championships, Western Illinois men and women sit in fifth and seventh place, respectively.

Earning the highest individual finish for the men was Doug Ogilvie who placed fifth in one-meter diving with a score of 264.00. Also taking fifth was the 200 free relay team of Jonathan Bond, Sam Vissers, Austin Payne and Tyler Neaveill posting a time of 1:24.54 which is a top time by more than three seconds.

Matt Abercrombie swam to a sixth place finish in 500 free competition with a time of 4:39.37. Tyler Neaveill also turned in a sixth place spot swimming a 20.92 in the 50 free. Both times marked new season bests.

The 200 free relay squad of Haley Brasile, Abby Hansen, Lizzie Hollopeter and Julia Rassmussen turned in the lone 'Top 8' finish for the women. The team took seventh turning in a time of 1:38.30 and beating their previous top mark of 1:42.07.

"The team is swimming great," head coach Greg Naumann said. "I don't believe that we have ever had this much success as a whole at conference. We've always had a couple of people who struggle a little bit, but we are not having much of that this weekend. This goes to show how well the team trained over the entire season, and that they stayed focused the entire time. We have had the fewest injuries ever, and yet we've trained the hardest since I've been at Western. We always get stronger as conference moves forward, so I'm pretty excited to see where we end up at the end of our seventh session."

The meet held at Oakland resumes on Friday (Feb. 22) with preliminaries at 10 a.m. (CDT) and finals at 5 p.m. (CDT). Follow along with live results HERE and visit the tournament central page HERE.
