Leatherneck Swimming & Diving Finishes Third Day of Championship Competition

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Following the third day of competition and a total of 37 events, the Leathernecks are fifth in the men's standings and seventh in the women's at the 2013 Swimming and Diving Summit League Championships.

Earning the top finish of the day for Western was Matt Abercrombie who placed third in the 400 IM. His time of 4:02.58 is nearly a 13 second improvement of his previous top time of 4:15.44.

Dylon Rykosky took seventh in 200 free competition posting a time of 1:41.64, more than two seconds faster than his top time of 1:43.96. Also taking seventh was Jonathan Bond in the 100 back. His time of 51.09 bested his top mark of 53.99.

The 400 medley relay team of Bond, JD Furr, Rykosky and Tyer Neaveill placed sixth turning in a new top time of 3:26.58 by a margin of nearly ten seconds.

Julia Rassmussen was the lone individual to post a 'Top 8' finish taking seventh overall in one-meter diving with a score of 207.80.

Also earning a seventh place spot for the women was the 400 medley relay team of Lizzie Hollopeter, Sarah Rosenhauer, Kelsey Kirchhoefer and Rassmussen. The group's time of 4:04.91 marked a new top time by just under nine seconds.
