MACOMB, Ill. - After a pair of top-ten individual finishes to open the season at the SIU-E Challenge, Western Illinois cross country heads to South Bend, Ind. for the 58th Annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Oct. 4).
The Leathernecks are coming off 4th place finishes on both the men's and women's side at the SIU-E Challenge three weeks ago. Mark Holt and Chelsea Lynes finished in the top ten for Western Illinois. Madison Lefler, Lydia Smith and Mackenzie Gray also put in top-20 performances for the women. For the men, Zach Wiedeman, Chad French and Chase Marlow joined Holt in the top-20.
Approximately 1200 runners from more than 100 teams will be competing in this year's Notre Dame Invitational.
The 58th running of the event will be split up into two divisions, Blue and Gold. The Leathernecks will be competing in the Gold Division. The women's 5K race will run first at 2 p.m. followed be the men's 8K which will start at 2:45 p.m. Other schools competing in the Gold Division are:
