Men's Basketball Picked Fourth in Annual League Preseason Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's basketball team has been projected to finish fourth in The Summit League this season according to the annual preseason poll of league coaches, SIDs and media. The Leathernecks, who shared the league's regular season championship last season, recieved a total of 161 points in the poll.

Senior Adam Link was tabbed Preseason All-Summit League Second Team as well. The Elbert, Co. native finished last season third on the squad in points having averaged 9.9 per game, while also ranking third in rebounds per game having pulled down 4.3 per game. Link was one of two Leathernecks to start all 31 games last season.

North Dakota State recieved the most points in the poll with 305, while also earning 25 first-place points. Denver came in second with 260 points and the other three first-place points.

South Dakota State, who captured its second straight tournament title last season, were picked third with 233 points. 

After the Leathernecks in fourth are Omaha (130), Fort Wayne (120), South Dakota (102) and IUPUI (81).

Western plays its only exhibition game of the year on November 5 at home versus Knox College before opening its 2013-14 campaign at Idaho on November 9.
