ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois women's basketball forward Ashley Luke was named the Summit League 'Player of the Week' on Monday (Dec. 9) for the second consecutive week, the conference announced.

Over the past week, Luke averaged 28.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game in a 79-58 win over Southeast Missouri and a 97-80 defeat at #15 Oklahoma.

The sophomore has connected on 28 straight free throws, 22 of them last week, including going a program record 17-of-17 against SEMO, breaking a 30-year old record for highest percentage in a game (Kelle Lindbeck - 12-of-12 in 1983).

She has scored at least 23 points in four straight games, which also helped her receive conference 'Co-Player of the Week' honors last week (Dec. 2).

Against the Redhawks, Luke matched her career high with 29 points, 25 of them in the first half, while also surpassing her previous career high with 15 rebounds.

At Oklahoma, Luke totaled 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting, adding six rebounds, four assists and a career-high six steals. The 17-point differential was Western's closest scoring margin versus a ranked team in nine years.

This season, she leads the conference in rebounding (11.1 rpg) and steals (2.8 spg), also ranking second in scoring (19.5 ppg).

The award was the fourth of Luke's career, as she also earned it two consecutive weeks in February of last season.
