Leathernecks Hit the Field in Shoulder Pads

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois Football worked out Sunday afternoon (Aug. 7) in shoulder pads/helmets for the first time this fall. The Leathernecks have one more day of shells before being able to wear full pads on Tuesday.

The squad will go through the first of six 2-a-day practices on Wednesday.

Monday morning Western's coaches and student-athletes will have their annual Media Day. The team picture is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.. and media interviews to follow. The Leathernecks are scheduled for another 2:45 afternoon session on the practice fields.

Head coach Mark Hendrickson talked with the media following practice on how the team is progressing, the quarterback battle and how the Leatherneck defense is shaping up.

August 10 9-11 a.m.; 6-7:45 p.m.
