MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois football hosted the second annual Meet the Leathernecks kids clinic on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 14) out at the Brophy Hall practice fields. More than 75 youths from around the area attended.

The Fighting Leathernecks, who are in the middle of fall camp, ran workouts for the kids by each position group. Head coach Mark Hendrickson blew his whistle throughout the hour-long clinic to move kids from one group to another.

Following the clinic, members of the Fighting Leathernecks autographed schedule posters for the kids. Hendrickson saw a lot of excitement on the field and is thrilled the event is now in its second year.

"Today's second annual Meet the Leathernecks went very well," said Hendrickson. "There is so much enthusiasm with this event. It is truly difficult to tell who has more fun at this event, either the players or the kids. We are thrilled that these young football players are having a great time for a second consecutive year. Our players are also enjoying the role as coach."
