Nick joined Western Illinois Athletics in the June of 2012 as the Graduate Assistant for Ticket Operations where he will help oversee all single-game and season ticket sales for Western Illinois Athletics. He will also assist with various promotional and marketing campaigns for the department.

Marckel came to Western Illinois from Central Michigan University where he most recently served as a Senior Ticket Associate for Central Michigan's Athletic Department. During his time with the Chippewas, Marckel was responsible for the sale, processing, printing, and distribution of Chippewa Athletic events, as well as other University events. He also assisted supervising student ticket sales workers during home events and oversaw the pass lists for various events.

Prior to his work at Central Michigan, Marckel completed two separate internships with minor league baseball teams. In 2010, Marckel was a Group Sales Associate with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. During his time with the Blue Crabs, Marckel was responsible for contacting potential clients, preparing and staffing high school days and baseball camps, and generating new ticket revenue.

In 2011, Marckel was an Operations Intern with the West Michigan Whitecaps, a Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. During his time with the Whitecaps, he was responsible for supervising and managing the stadium parking lot staff and preparing the 10,000 seat Fifth-Third Ballpark for all home games and on-site events. He also assisted the accounting department by helping to balance cash register reports and preparing bank deposits.

Marckel graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Organizational Communications in May of 2012 and is currently pursuing his master's degree at Western Illinois University.
