MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois volleyball student-athlete Samantha Fournier (Coal Valley, Ill./Moline) has been named the Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
Fournier was tabbed the Drury Inn Jessica Barkman Memorial Classic MVP this past weekend after helping guide the Leathernecks to a perfect 3-0 record and tournament crown. Fournier posted a career-high 21 kills in two of the team's matches, finishing with a total of 51 on the weekend.
The sophomore right-side hitter leads the team in kills this season with 78 (3.92 per set) thus far, a .280 hitting percentage, 37 digs, six blocks, three assists and three service aces.
The Coal Valley, Ill. native holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.367 and is undecided on a major.
