BROOKINGS, S.D. - Western Illinois women's soccer had three student-athletes named to the 2012 All-Summit League First Team at the tournament banquet on Thursday (November 1) evening.
Keeper Laura Atkinson was voted 'Goalkeeper of the Year' and was also placed on the league's First Team. She paces the conference in wins (8), shutouts (6) and save percentage (0.889) and ranks second in goals against (7) and goals-against average (0.64). The Oregon, Wis. native is ranked sixth nationally in save percentage and 25th in goals-against average. She was awarded First Team honors in 2010 and Second Team in 2009.
Midfielder Katie Condon leads the Leathernecks in points (12) and goals (5) and was rewarded for her efforts with First Team recognition. Her five goals on the season is tied for third in the conference standings. She has also contributed two assists and earned one game-winning goal. It is the senior captain's first All-League honor of her career.
Defender Amber Davis was also selected to the First Team. She has been instrumental in the squad's nine shutout season as a part of the back line. The junior also has one goal and one assist on the season. This marks the Milton, Wis. native's first career All-League award.
The Fighting Leathernecks open Summit League Championship play on Friday (November 2) at 3 p.m. against the No. 1 seed Oakland. The match will take place at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings, S.D. Livestats and tournament central can be accessed by clicking HERE.
